GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Stay for male and female are separate throughout the program.
  2. Medical certificate, duly signed by MBBS doctor, is mandatory for participating in all the events.
  3. Participation in any of the Himalayan trekking program require a level of fitness. One who is participating in any of such events should do a minimum of two weeks of preparation.
  4. Trekking shoes is compulsory.
  5. Participants should check “Things to Carry list” which includes all personal clothing and other trekking accessories.
  6. Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited.
  7. Buying drugs or any illegal material is strictly prohibited. Participant found in possession of any of such items, will be detained and handed over to government authority.
  8. Instructions from Guide should be strictly followed.

HOW TO REACH RUMSU CAMP?

Check the following steps:

  1. Take Delhi – Manali volvo bus from Delhi and get down at Patlikuhal(20 kms after kullu and 20 kms before Manali.
  2. From Patlikuhal, Rumsu is another 12 kms. Transport options like sumo and cab are readily available all the time via Patlikuhal Taxi Union Office.
  3. Reach Rumsu and getdown at the Kailashrath Treks landmark. Base camp is at 10 minutes walk from here, follow the markings for the same to reach.
Itinerary

Day 1Reporting at Rumsu base camp and Acclimatization walk.

All the participants will report at Rumsu base camp by 8 AM and will undergo registration process. Freshening up and breakfast will happen at the base camp. Post breakfast we will go for an acclimatization walk.
Lunch at 1 PM. Post lunch orientation. Orientation will cover all the general instructions that could be helpful for the trek like back packing, marching technique and medical awareness. Post snacks we will have an ice breaking session.
Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp.

Day 2 Jeep ride from from base camp to Hadimba Temple, Manali followed by trek to Lama Dugh campsite. Trek Duration: 6 hours. Level: Moderate. Overnight at Lama Dugh Campsite.

The trek starts from the Hadimba Temple(2050 meters) and climbs up the Deodar forest and dense wild grasses to Lama Dugh(3,000 meters).. Meanwhile in the trek, one can keep getting amazing aerial views of Manali. The trek route is steep at some places is steep but takes a total of 5 to 6 hours for Lama Dugh campsite. The campsite is just next to a stream surrounded with green meadow.

Day 3Trek from Lama Dugh to Riyali Thach via Manali Pass(3,800 meters). Trek Duration: 7 hours. Level: Difficult. Overnight at Riyali Thach Campsite.

The trek from Lama Dugh climbs further up to a height of 3,800 meters taking one to Manali Pass. The views of Chandrakhani, Deo Tibba, Pir Panjal Range and Dhauladhar Range are stunning from here. The trek continues at 3,800 meters for an hour and then descends for Riyali Thach campsite at 3,400 meters.

Day 4Trek from Riyali Thach to Base of Kalihani . Trek Duration: 7 hours. Level: Moderate. Overnight at Base of Kalihani.

The trek from Riyali Thach to Base of Kalihani takes around 6 to 7 hours. The trail enters into Oak Forest for an hour, crosses the Patlikuhal Nala coming from Kalihani twice and ascends for another 4 hours to reach Base of Kalihani Pass(Shinghor Campsite) at 3,800 meters. The place is visited commonly by shepherd people to graze their flocks for it’s rich pastures.

Day 5Trek from Base of Kalihani to Kalihani Lake via Kalihani Pass(4,800 meters). Trek Duration: 7 hours. Level: Difficult. Overnight at Kalihani Lake.

The trek starts early from Base of Kalihani for the pass. The trail goes steep via some moraines and glacier walk for Kalihani top at 4,800 meters. The views of Mani Mahesh, Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges are stunning from here. Descend further via glacier walk to reach Kalihani Lake campsite. The campsite is just next to a series of three glaciated lake.

Day 6: Trek from Kalihani Lake to Devi Ki Marhi. Trek Duration: 6 hours. Level: Moderate. Overnight at Devi Ki Marhi Campsite.

The trek from Kalihani lake to Devi ki Marhi is a gradual descend but it’s difficult as the major part of the trek goes on moraines and gullies. The entire trek lies next to the kalihani river that joins other tributaries to form Ravi at Bara Banghal. Devi ki Marhi campsite is just next to the river and has a temple related to one of the local deity of shepherds.

Day 7: Trek from Devi Ki Marhi to Dal Marhi. Trek Duration: 7 hours. Level: Difficult. Overnight at Dal Marhi Campsite.

The trek from Devi ki Marhi starts with crossing of the stream in the morning when the flow is low. The trek then continues again next to the Kalihani river for some part with two major climbs for Dal Ki Marhi campsite. The entire place is very commonly visited by shepherds with their flocks from Kangra district for it’s rich pastures.

Day 8Trek from Dal Marhi camsite to Bara Banghal. Trek Duration: 7 hours. Level: Difficult. Overnight at BAra Banghal village.

The trek from Dal Ki Marhi campsite climbs again for 200 meters till 3,700 meters, continues for an hour at the same height before descending to 2,400 meters of Bara Banghal. The trek is long and takes around total of 7 hours with 4 to 5 hours of descend towards Bara Banghal. Encounter birch, blue pine and rhododendron forest on the way before entering into the farmlands of the local villagers.

Day 9Extra Buffer day/Rest Day at Bara Banghal.

Day 10Trek from Bara Banghal village to Marh. Trek Duration: 6 hours. Level: Difficult. Overnight at Marh campsite.

The trek from Bara Bangal to Marh(Base camp for Thamsar Pass) is a long climb of 1,400 meters along the left bank of Thamsar Nala for 4 to 5 hours before one crosses the Nala and comes on the right bank.The trail then continues for another 2 hours with an easy climb and last hour a steep climb for Marh campsite

Day 11 Trek from Marh to Bhed Pal campsite via Thamsar Pass(4,500 meters). Trek Duration: 7 hours. Level: Difficult. Overnight at Bhed Pal campsite.

The trek from Marh for Thamsar Pass starts early and goes past two glacial lakes. The views of Pir Panjal Range and Mani Mahesh from the pass are breathtaking. Descend for an hour and cross a large glacial lake on the way to reach Bhed Pal campsite. The campsite is at the confluence of tributaries which form Ulh River.

Day 12Trek from Bhed Pal campsite to Plachak. Trek Duration: 7 hours. Level: Moderate. Overnight at Plachak campsite.

The trek from Bhed Pal Campsite continues to the left bank of Ulh River acorss spruce, oak and rhododendron forest. Plachak campsite has a forest rest house too.

Day 13 Trek from Plachak to Bada Gran village. Departure from Bada Gran Village.

The trek from Plachak to Bada Gran continues on the right bank for around 2 hours, cross the river and then continue for another 2 hours to reach Bada Gran village.
Departure will be given at 4 PM from Bada Gran. Transport facility are available from the village for Billing, Mandi and Dharmshala.
